How will I be trained?

To provide an outstanding experience to your clients, you'll need great training.  We've got plenty for you to learn and a wide variety of training styles and opportunities for you to become great at what you do.SFP 

Weekly Agency Training

Typically performed in groups with other new Financial Advisors, these sessions cover the basics and specifics of products, sales techniques, consulting approaches, time management and tracking skills.  Instructors are usually agency Sales Managers, Managing Associates, or other veteran specialists.

 

Joint Work

Whether with your manager or an accomplished FInancial Advisor, you'll go on appointments with prospective clients, consult together, and discuss the suitability of solutions and recommendations.

 

SFP University

Our online interactive self-study training portal offers fast access to the training tools and resources you need, when you need them. 24/7/365.  With a catalog of dozens of courses and customizable training plans, SFP University provides a consistent approach for all Financial Advisors and managers.

Insurance: We offer whole life, term life, universal life, variable universal life* and survivorship life insurance as well as disability income and long-term care insurance.

Retirement: We offer Defined Contribution, Defined Benefit, and Non-Qualified Deferred compensation plans in addition to a competitive portfolio mix of variable, fixed and immediate annuities.  Additionally, we offer a qualified IRA rollver program that aligns the customer's need for flexibility and control of their savings along eith theur desire for a reliable source of income throughout retirement.

Investments: MML Investors Services, LLC, a MassMutual subsidiary, is a registered broker-dealer and registered investment adviser, offering a broad portfolio of securities products, brokerage services, asset management programs, and financial planning services through its registered representatives and investment adviser representatives.

Single Source Insurance: MML Insurance Agency, LLC fills gaps in product offerings by providing one-stop brokerage shopping for life insurance, disability income insurance, annuity, and long-term care insurance products for those times when the needs of clients and prospects must be met with products we do not offer. 


How will I be paid?

Results equal rewards.  You can get a lot out of this career.  Some of the rewards are financial.  Your income can be derived from four sources:

1. First Year Commissions paid on initial sales from qualifying products

2. Renewal Commissions paid as a reward for providing clients with ongoing professional service and maintaining their business with MassMutual

3. Training subsidy that may be available to you in the early years to help build your practice

4. Additional allowances and bonuses that can be earned based on your overall business growth

We've got a plan for you.  The Financial Advisor career is the final destination for some, but for others who hear the call to leadership or choose to specialize in a certain field, the opportunities are many.

Managing Associate Program

Have you ever been promised a management opportunity that never materialized?  Well you will be happy to know that we don't make empty promises, but give you a clear path to earn a management position with defined goals and targets. 

 

The management track begins with our Managing Associate Program which introduces a Management Skills Framework.  It includes: Business Management and Planning, Recruiting and Selection, Training, Development and Coaching, Selling and Marketing, and finally Activity and Management.  The Managing Associate curriculum supports the candidate in learning/experiencing aspects of sales management while maintaining a focus on high levels of personal production.  To progress from a New Managing Associate to a Senior Managing Associate, the candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the concepts/skills covered in the curriculum. 

 

You'll work through curriculum that includes both live and virtual workshops.  You'll become highly proficient in our company endorsed selling system with opportunities for different certification levels. When you're ready and have proven yourself, the Senior Managing Associate role goes deeper into the learning and stretches your goals and performance metrics around recruiting and managing a small team.  After you have successfully completed the program, appointment to the Sales Manager typically occurs.

 

Field Leadership Development Program

If your goals include one day leading an agency, we've got a development plan for you, too.  Sales Managers that have demonstrated high levels of success and productivity can be selected for our Field Leadership Development Program (FLDP).  These elite Sales Managers are provided with a development plan to prepare them for the challenges and rigors of managing an agency. 

 

Members of the FLDP are monitored closely and provided high levels of training coaching, and mentorship from their agency and the home office.  Once an FLDP member is ready and there is an opportunity available, they can be appointed to the General Agent role to run an office of their own.
